Applications are now open for the 2025 Kyoto University Amgen Scholars Program, an 8-week, fully-funded summer internship hosted at Kyoto University in Japan. This program welcomes students from any field of study, with no GPA minimum and no IELTS requirement if studying in an English-medium institution. Running from June 6 to August 7, 2025, the internship offers interns a stipend, airfare, and free accommodation, along with the chance to work under the mentorship of Kyoto University faculty. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore Kyoto’s rich cultural landmarks, including its temples, shrines, and gardens. Internship Details
This program will select 10 interns for the summer, offering significant financial benefits:
- Financial Support:
- Round-trip airfare
- Free accommodation
- Stipend of 90,000 yen at the start and again mid-July
Research Areas
Interns will participate in intensive scientific research, focusing on fields such as:
- Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology
- Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Chemistry, Immunology, and more
Additionally, interns will engage in seminars and lab visits to enhance their learning experience.
Eligibility Requirements
The program is open to both domestic and international undergraduate students currently studying in Asia. To qualify, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a college or university in Asia
- Have completed at least one year of undergraduate study by the program’s start date
- Have at least one semester remaining after the internship

- Eastern Asia: China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, etc.
- Southeast Asia: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, etc.
- Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, etc.

- Western Asia: Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, etc.
