The International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) scheme was established to maintain and develop international research linkages and specifically aims to:

  • attract top quality international postgraduate students to areas of research strength in the Australian higher education sector; and
  • support Australia’s research effort.
In addition to IPRS, Curtin has a number of Strategic International Research Scholarships (CSIRS) available for new future students planning to commence in 2017.

The International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) provides:
  • course tuition fee for two years for a Masters by Research and three years for a Doctoral degree; and
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the recipient and their dependants for the duration of the award.
In addition, all successful applicants will receive an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) valued at $26,288.00 (2016 value) for living allowance. This tax-free stipend is indexed annually.
Curtin Strategic International Research Scholarship (CSIRS) provides:
  • course tuition fee for three years for a Doctoral degree; and
  • basic single overseas health cover (OSHC) for the recipient; and
  • a stipend equivalent to that of the APA valued at $26,288.00 (2016 value) per annum tax free for the duration of your study.

Strategic Research Areas for CSIRS (Applicants must be new future students intending to commence in Research Term 1, 2017 and their research proposals must aligned with one of the areas listed below):
Curtin Business School (CBS)
Energy Economics: This builds on a growing platform of research which straddles both Economics and Finance as well as CGSB (and thus DMEE).  It also ties in with the interests in oil and gas, renewal energy.  The range of issues facing this arena ranging from world market analysis, security of supply and climate change.
Sustainable tourism is the multi-disciplinary study of how tourism can be developed and managed in a sensitive way which minimises the negative impacts on the environment and host communities. Tourism development in Australia and throughout the Asia-Pacific region relies on natural and cultural resources as the primary tourism attractions. The challenge is to develop policies and practices which enable profitable but not exploitative development and management of these resources.
Foreign Direct Investment and Multinational Enterprises:This area of research focuses on the theoretical and practical insights of various aspects of foreign direct investment (FDI) and multinational enterprises (MNEs) into and from emerging Asian countries, and the impact of FDI and MNEs on host-country firms, society, and environment.
Luxury Branding: This growing area is supported through CBS cluster and sees important strengths in international capacity particularly in Asia where there are existing excellent relationships with industry and academia.

Eligibility criteria
IPRS – available for Current (student who enrolled between 1 Sep 2015 – 31 May 2016 only) and Future Students:
  • Your must be an international student (excluding New Zealand);
  • You must be studying for your first PhD;
  • Scholarships will be awarded on academic merit and research capacity to suitably qualified overseas graduates eligible to commence a higher degree by research in 2017;
  • Applicants must have gained admission already or have lodged an admission application for Research Term 1, 2017;
  • Applicants must meet admission English language requirement for the chosen course of study by 5 Sep 2016;
  • Applicants whose English are conceded by the enrolling areas will meet admission but not scholarships requirement;
  • Not have held an AusAID scholarship within two years prior to commencing the IPRS;
Current students who meet the following guidelines:
  1. Commenced your higher degree by research program in the previous year (after 31 August) but, due to the timing of your application and subsequent enrolment you were unable to apply for and IPRS in that year; or
  2. Commenced your higher degree by research program but withdrew from that program within six months of commencement;
CSIRS – For Future Students only
  • You must be an international student (excluding New Zealand);
  • Scholarships are merit base, your research must align with at least one of the Strategic research areas and you must be commencing a higher degree by research in 2017 for the first time;
  • You must be studying  for your first PhD;
  • Applicants must meet English language requirements for the chosen course of study by 5 Sep 2016;
APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT MEET THE ENGLISH  ENTRY REQUIREMENT BY 5 SEP 2016 WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR A SCHOLARSHIP.  APPLICANTS WHOSE ENGLISH REQUIREMENT IS CONCEDED BY THEIR FACULTY/SCHOOL/DEPT WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR A SCHOLARSHIP.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished mid-career professionals with demonstrated leadership potential to the United States for a year of graduate-level non-degree academic coursework and professional development activities. This ten month program consists of academic coursework and internship in a relevant professional organization. By providing future leaders and policy makers with experience in U.S society, culture, and professional fields, the program provides a basis for lasting, productive ties between Americans and their professional counter parts overseas. Approximately 18 campuses have been selected through a competitive process to host fellows in group with thematic and subject affinities. Each university is chosen based on institutional resources and the level of support and guidance it offers for academic and administrative support. Faculty advisers also assist Fellows in pursuing balanced academic and professional programs. All participants must return to Pakistan immediately following completion of their program.

Eligibility Criteria
Successful applicants must be committed to serving Pakistan. They must be Pakistani citizens with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional/work experience, coupled with a Master’s degree and a guarantee of re-employment upon return to Pakistan. Applicants must possess a high level of fluency in spoken and written English. Successful candidates should be poised to assume leadership positions in their field.
Ineligibility
Applications will not be accepted from university teachers or researchers with no management experience or similar responsibilities, those who attended graduate school in the U.S. in the last seven years or who have had long-term U.S. experience within the last five years. Also ineligible are persons with a dual U.S./Pakistan nationality or who have a spouse, fiancé, parent or child over the age of 18 who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Employees of the Fulbright organization or the U.S. Department of State are also ineligible.

US funded Merit and Need based scholarships program 2024-25

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID with the collaboration of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is offering merit and need based scholarships to deserving students for the academic year 2016. Female Students are strongly encouraged to apply

University of Gujrat offers PhD and MS Scholarships in foreign Universities 2024-25

Applications are invited for outstanding Pakistani nationals for the award of PhD and MS scholarships in foreign universities. The scholarship winners have to sign a bond to serve relevant campus (Hafiz Hayat Campus or Narowal Sub Campus) of the University for at least 05 years after completion of PhD degree and for at least 03 years after completion of MS degree. The applicant may apply for both the campuses; however, separate application form shall be submitted

Eligibility Criteria: Pakistani / AJK National for PhD: Applicant must have minimum 18 years of education in the relevant discipline with first division or 3.0/4.0, 3.5/5.0 CGPA in terminal degree.
How to Apply: • The eligible candidate (as per above criteria) shall mail the application in hard form on the prescribed format (www.uog.edu.pk) with the following attested documents to the office of the Director P&D, Hafiz Hayat Campus, University of Gujrat, Punjab, Pakistan, within 30 days of this advertisement through registered mail or courier service.
• No application form shall be accepted in person.
• The discipline, degree program and campus applied for, most clearly be mentioned on the envelope: 1. all credentials including DMCs
 2. CNIC

 5. Character Certificate from the last attended academic institution and, in case of in-service, the same shall also be required from the employee.
 6. Tentative Research Proposal (maximum 3000 words) with clear objectives

8. The applicant have to deposit Rs.1000/- in favor of Treasurer, UOG as processing fee. Original demand draft / deposit slip must be enclosed with the application form.
• In-Service candidates shall apply through proper channel. No advance copy shall be accepted. • All UOG statutes, rules and regulations, policies and decisions of the Selection Board / Syndicate shall be followed by the applicants. • The UOG reserves the rights to finalize the number and discipline for the award of scholarships. • Incomplete applications and those received after due date shall not be entertained. • Date of Written Test / Interview shall be announced on UOG website. For MS: Applicant must have minimum 16 years of education in the relevant discipline with first division or 3.0/4.0, 3.5/5.0 CGPA in terminal degree.
Following criteria shall be common for both PhD and MS degree programs:
• No 3rd division and less than 50% marks in entire academic career
 • Maximum age (on the closing date of the application) shall be 35 years and extendable up to 40 years only for regular employees of the Public Sector University / DAls and R&D Institutions.
 • Candidate, already availing HEC, University / DAI / Departmental or any other scholarship(s) is not eligible. • Eligible candidates have to appear in HEC Aptitude Test (HAT) to be conducted by the UOG. The Roll # slips for the said test shall be mailed to the addresses of the eligible candidates. • Short listed candidates shall be invited for Interview.
• No TA/DA shall be granted for test / interview by UOG.
 • The University Scholarship Management Committee (USMC) shall define the qualifying score for the award of the scholarship. • Final decision to award the scholarship shall be taken by the UOG Syndicate. • The selected applicant shall have to secure admission to the HEC identified world top ranked universities (available on HEC website) in the relevant degree program (PhD / MS) and discipline within defined stipulated time by the UOG after the award of scholarship, failing which the award of the scholarship shall be cancelled.
                                    
 • Candidates shall have to produce unconditional admission offer from the respective host university within defined stipulated time.
